I thought that Marc's story was also inspirational. I thought that Marc's story was told in a way that many people could feel passionate about. Although Marc faced many of life challenges, one being a working student, he tells us to work through it, take the path that we feel is right, and work even past the end of the tunnel.
Marc came close to reaching failure. He was able to acknowledge the fact that failure was right infront of him, but was able to make a change and make the first turn onto a new road. Although he wanted to give up, and run back home, Marc decided to take another shot at life in Thailand, and was inspired by a young, poor 'steet child' to keep on going. If this boy had not have encouraged Marc to stay in Thailand, then Marc would have failed.
I think Marcs story is easy to relate to or look at with our own life, because we all come to a crossroad serveral times in our life where failure is up ahead, or a chance for opportunity is on the next road. Marc took made a turn/change towards something he felt was right.
I thought Marcs story was inspiring because it teachers us to reach out further then we thought we could, and to make your own decisions, but allow others to influence and inspire you for the better.
"What kind of legacy do you want to leave"...

#9 - Craig's Story (Chapter 1 - Me to We)
I thought Craig's story was ispirational. It is hard to believe that someone so young can accomplish so much at such a young age, and in so little time. I think Craig not only inspires myself, but many other people as he proves that one person can help change the world.
The stories that were told about child labour, and those who were involved really hit home. They make you stop and realize how lucky we are, and how we must help those in need. Craig decided to step up, and speak out. With the help of his classmates, and school community, Craig began to change the world. He had an opportunity that sat close to his heart, and stuck with it. He truely is inspiring, and teaches us all to never give up, and do what we feel is right. Go for what we believe in...
I think Craig's story will help others understand that it is important to help others. We can only make this world a better place, if we do our part in helping it. It is not going to happen on its own, so take action, and try and make a change. Big or small, any positive action towards and for others will help make a difference.
Craig lets us know that just because we have a Prime Minister, that doesnt mean he is going to do the work for us, or even do the right things to help make a change. We may not have a big name, title, or company behind us, but that doesnt matter. All we have to do is take action, and try to make that change, and hope others will follow in the same direction.

#8 If You Really Knew Me
I thought this episode of If You Really Knew Me was really good. I found it emotional, and very interesting. I felt that i could relate to some of the teens in the episode whether it be me facing the same difficulties, or knowing someone who is. Some parts of the episode i felt that they were almost staged. I still thought it was a reallly good episode, and that it touched many of us in the class.
This school is different from IDCI because i don't feel like we have as many 'clicks'. I do realize that there are clicks, and they are hard to not have, but at the school in the video, i felt like there were tons of clicks, and that clicks did not get along. I feel like here at IDCI we dont have as many clicks, and that even if you are apart of a certain click, most people still talk to people in other clicks, and get along with more then just the people theey hang out with. I honestly dont hear as many Rumors here at IDCI as shown in that short video. Of corse there is Rumors here, you cant avoid them, but I honestly dont hear as many...
IDCI is similar to the other school because there are students in both schools that have to face so many difficulties. Everyone has a story here at IDCI and at the school in the video. IDCI is also similar to that school because it is a place of learning with bullying, rumors, tragity, difficulties, and some fun.
I think the overal concept of challenge day is a really great idea. I think that fact that random students can come together and discuss their problems, as well as meet new people is very benificial. I think the concept of challenge day is awesome because I know people who face difficulties, and people who just need to talk. I think challenge day can help many teens from school to school, and helop change the lives of many.
I would enjoy being a part of challenge day because i think it would be an amazing experience and opportunity to meet new people, and tell and listen to teenage problems. I know that many people face these problems, and its always nice to have someone listen and understand. I think that if I had the oppprtunity to participate in challange day i would. The only reason that would hold me back would be the fact of opening up to people i dont know, but i know thats a part of challenge day, and what its all about, so i think i would take the chance to do so.
IDCI is investing time and money into challenge day because they know how great of a program it truely is, and that it will make a huge different in the lives of those who participate. IDCI strongly believes in bonding, trust, and making a difference. I think that IDCI is spending time and money on challenge day because they want to make sure that everyone in the IDCI family is safe, and healthy. It is a good experience for everyone, and gives students a chance to make a change.
I think that Challenge Day is a really great program and that anyone who gets the opportunity to participate in it is very lucky. I think it can change the lives of many people, if they take it seriously. I know people who have or are facing problems that are terrible, and I think that if they had the chance to participate in challenge day, their lives could change. Challenge Day is a great way for kids to realize they are not alone, and that things can get better!

#7 Why Was Today Important (im a little late, but it was still a very important day)
October 3rd was a very important day in our leadership classroom. The mood had been very low and uncomfortable in the room for a few days ahead, so finaly Tomkins adressed the entire class, and im very glad he did. I feel like it was a drowsy week to begin with, but as leaders i feel we should try to make the best of things. We cant deny that we were all acting in a non enthusiastic way, and we were not doing the best that we could within the classroom. When we came to class everyday, everyone sat in the same spot. We had almost been in school for about 3 weeks, and we still had not made the class more welcoming. Everyone would work and talk with those who they always talk to, and who they are most comfortable with.
I learned that even though we all have our own comfort zone, no matter how big it is, we need to try and step out of it. I think this is one of the biggest reasons that the mood felt so low. I think everyone was afraid to sit somewher else, or uncomfortable. I learned that its okay to have these feelings, and that we arnt the only ones, but to try and over come these things, and try to talk to more people. I think that the more people we talk to in the room, the more comfortable we will all be with eachother, and the higher the mood will be.
I learned that our class was still seperating so called 'clicks', and that it really didnt make anyone feel great. I learned that we are all very similar, and we are all there for the same reason. I got to hear from different classmates in the discussion, and learned more about others too. I know that the fact that being afraid about what others think of us goes along with being a teenager, but i feel that after todays convo, we really dont care what everyone else thinks of us, as long as we are ourselves, and thats what people should like the most about us.
I think that a lot of us where thinking the same thing as Robyn, or something along those lines, but no one was brave enough to speak out about it. I think Robyn did an awesome job describing what was going on, and i give her credit for helping lightning the mood in the class. I think Robyn deserves everyones thanks because after she said what she did, everyone really began to change for the better. Everyone else also helped make this change, and I appreciate each and everyone of us who is in this awesome leadership class. without them, this conversation would not have been as successfull, and our leadership class would not be as amazing. I think this is a great group of students and i love being a part of this leadership class.
I think that as the semester goes on we will get to know each other more and more, which will help with the whole situation. I know that as the semester has already gone one, the mood is a lot lighter in the class room and more comfortable. I think this conversation was a huge turning point for the class, and that we all made a change for the better. Now when we come to class, we sit with different people, or atleast in different spots. I like the way our class has turned out.
I think that the more activities we do and plan together will help bring us closer together. I fee that is is very important to work with other people and new people each time, for ourselves, and as a leader. I think since the end of the conversation, people had already started to step over the line. I think now, we are comfortable with almost everyone in the classroom. I think everyone has done a great job in trying to make the classroom more comfortable for everyone. I am sorry that Stephanie felt as if she had to drop the class, and i certainly hope that the rest of us did not trigger her to drop out of the class. I wish that the mood of the class now, was this way back then, but we all learned somehting extreamely important about life, and will hopefully learn from this experience.
I think the energizers really help our class grow as a group, as we get to interact and have fun with everyone. I think the Haunted house really let everyone work together even more. I think more 'projects' where we get to work together will help with group bonding. Im sure many more oppertunities will come up this semester that will allow us to continue to grow together.
I love this class, and everyone in it, and i hope everyone now feels the same way, especially after this conversation that we had!

#6 A Different Kind of Story
I think that 'A Son Returns to the Agony of Samalia' is a very moving article. I believe ther is a very strong message that K'Naan is trying to get across in the article. Although he talks about his past, and gives us brief history on Samalia, i dont really think that he wanted everything to be about him, others from Samalia, and Samalia. I think he was trying to tell people to not take things for granted. Remember where you came from, and loves those who are truely important to you. I think he is trying to say respect others, and be happy with what you have. Not everyone has the same opportunities as we do, and i think K'Naan did a good job at drawing our attention to these facts. I think it is important that people atleast try to make a change, even if only one person benifits from it. I think that this article is a very good aritcle, and that many should take the time to read it, as it gives out more then one important message. I hope everyone realizes that we are blessed to live the lives we are living here in Canada, because we are very fortunate to be Canadian, and have all of the rights and freedom that we have. It is important to keep you chin up, even when things are down in the dumps. Appreciate what you have, and try to help other do the same. I think it is important as leaders that we try to make change, and this article gives us a good look on what we can do. It doesnt have to be a big movement but something that can encourage others that things can start to look brighter. K'naan demonstrates the fact that he cares about others, and how important it is to remember your past, and not take anything for granted. I found this article very inspiring because K'Naann went through so many scary and difficult times, but he never gave up. He risked his safety and life to try and make a change. He inspired me and i believe many others as he truely shows how much he cares, and he doesnt take his life for granted.

#5 Everythings Amazing and Nobody's Happy
I loved this video! It really caught my attention, and I think it caught a lot of others attention to! It was really funny and soo true. I think it made people realize how many things we take for granted. Like really? We are soo lucky with the things we are able to have, and experience.
I laughed when he said "give it a second! Its going to space!" People honestly get caught up in things like cell phones and computers rather then things that are truely important, and don't realize how privileged they are to be able to send a text message, or go onto the computer. Most people don't think about how awesome these things really are, and that many people can not do the same as them.
Millions of people travel by airplane, but how many people realize how lucky they are to be able to fly, and how amazing the experience truely is.
This video makes people realize how amazing the simple things really are, and how lucky we are to have them. Things like flying, texting, internet, are just example that he touched apon. I think that after watching the video, many people will think of more, and realize more things that are so simple, but amazing. Things like going to school, having a roof over our heads, having dinner on the table, clean water to drink. This video really knocks at people, and says hey, smarten up. Don't take things for granted, and appreciate what you have, because your life is AMAZING! This video made me realize how lucky i truely am, and should hopefully make other people grateful for what they have!

#4 Selflessness, humility and leadership
I think that doing something for the school, is a possitive gesture, either big or small, that helps the school out one way or another. This could be something that makes the school cleaner like picking up garbage and setting an example,to oginizing an event that gets many students involved in a positive way. I think doing something for the school is a positive thing. When you do something for the school, you are not just coming to the school, going to class, then going home, you instead are involving yourself in someway that helps the school out. People that play on the sports teams, and make our sports teams look good, people who are involved in clubs, and inhancing school spirit, those who are on student council, or those who participate in games, come up with ideas, and those who raise money along side others are all doing something for the school in my opinion.
I do not think that i evaluate myself above others in the school. I believe we are all there for the same reason, and should all respect one another to make school fun and go by fast! There are only 3-4 years difference max with students in the school, and if you look at the big picture, that is not a lot of years! I think everyone is equal whether they are students, or people in society. I don't evaluate myself above otheres, and I dont think anyone else should either.
I am proud of how i have served the school so far. I have been a very positive student, and have tried to involve my self as much as I can. I go to sporting events, dances, and am involved various clubs around the school. Even in the hallways. I know i can do a lot more to serve the school, and i think I should push myself to do more. I think I can do more, and serve the school even better.
I have tried to do the best I can for others in the school, and i try not to let things hold me back. I have a very busy life, and am always on the go, so I do have trouble involving myself. I think if i was less busy, i would be able to do my best to do things for others, because I would be able to devote more time, and focus more on that. I still think i help others, but i would be able to try harder, and do my best to help others rather then think more about helping others.
I think Mike was right when he said "We should give them respect because they are new and we already have things figured out". I think that we should give gr.9's respect. We were in their boat when we started grade 9, and all of us went through what they are going through. I believe everyone in the school desearves respect, not only the grade 9's, but i do think we should show the grade 9's that we do respect them, and hopefully they will feel more comfortable. I think that they reserve respect, they have done nothing to us that would make us disrespect them. They arn't much younger then us, so i think people should look at the big picture, and respect everyone.

Hand Maple Leaf Flag Thing...
Our group did okay. We all worked well together, gave input, and helped out in a different way. Right aways we traced my hand, then cut out a bunch of copies of it. Once they were cut out, we started to place the hand prints around on the large sheet of paper trying to see how we could make our maple leaf look the best. When we finally got a maple leaf we all were happy with, we realized we have to take it appart and glue it down, resulting in our final product not being as great as the first, but in its own unique way, we all thought it looked pretty cool. It wasn't perfect but who is right? I think we all worked well together. We each gave good inout as to what we thought would work the best, and how we should make the leaf. I think we were all leaders because we worked together to make the product better, and we all helped out in our own way. Everyone did participate whether it was cutting, glueing, placing hands, and or just helping the rest of the group.
I think we did this because it a small project that made us work with different people we may have not worked with before. We may have done this to make a flag that we were all involved with, and worked together in order to get a final product. I think we used hand to make the maple leaf because hands represent help, and the flags show that we, as canadians are willing to give helping hands, and help others make a difference in peoples lives. The hands are details that resemble and represent us, showing that we are a helping community. We did this to bring people together, and to start getting us to work with new people, in a short amount of time, trying to make the best final product possible.

Leadership Song - Change by Carrie Underwood
A song that i believe represents leadership is "Change" by Carrie Underwood. I chose this song because I think the words are very true as to how a leader feels in side when they want to do something, but are afraid of what others think, or if it is really possible. I think the song really catches what a good leader would do. I chose this song because i think it is true for a lot of leaders. They may want to do something, but others may be holding them back because they say it is impossible, but a true leader wont listen to them and they will go ahead and do what they believe is right.
At the beginning of the song when it asks what are you gunna do, then give you a scenario makes the listen think of what they would do. Most people would keep on walking, or change the channel because they think they are a fool for thinking thay they can help, but a leader would look at it as an opportunity to change a life, on small thing at a time.
When the lyrics say "Don't listen to them when they say, your just a fool, just a fool, to believe you can change the world" makes me think of what a leader would do. A leader wouldn't say oh well, i can't do anything with just me, they would say i can help. Even if it is little they are still helping out someone in a huge way, and they will also be leading others to do the same.

Leadership So Far...
Leadership is a fun class. We do work, but a different kind of work then we would normally do in a regular class like english, or science. In leadership, we don't learn formulas, or language, but we learn about ourselves, others, and our school community. I like leadership so far because we are able to get up out of our seats, and get to know one another, as well as come up with ideas to make our school a better place for everyone. I am excited for the rest of the semester because already our class has become closer to each other, and came up with some great school ideas, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the semester will hold!
